AR design
Solution
The museum aimed to lower the barrier for visitors to experience AR. After discussions with the team, we implemented Web AR Marker technology. This solution offered three key advantages:
No app Visitors simply scan a QR code with their smartphone to launch the experience in a web browser.
Cross-platform Fully supported on both iOS and Android devices, ensuring accessibility for all users.
Easy maintenance No need to purchase additional hardware; as long as visitors have internet access, the experience is ready to go.
AR Performance
During the production of AR models, we ensure optimal website performance and smooth user experience. The following standards were established:
3D material All 3D materials were required to include color map, normal map, and roughness map. A 1K resolution was recommended to balance visual quality with system performance.
Model file size Each AR model was limited to under 3MB, ensuring page load times remain below 0.5 seconds to deliver a responsive user experience.
File naming A standardized AR file naming structure was created to streamline collaboration during testing and debugging. It reduced time costs by 30% over five project transition.
Interactive Features
To deepen users' understanding of burial culture, we integrated interactive elements allowing them to view 360-degree models and adjust soil transparency via on-screen sliders.
This enabled users to explore different burial phases, as if uncovering archaeological history themselves.
